[mySA.com Local news] Life is tough when sibling has disability: Being the single parent of a daughter with a disability for 27 years, l can tell you its hard on the parents, and siblings, we as a family try to show our childern that this is the cross given us to carry, and even Jesus fell and was helped, my daughters helped me with their sister, and still help me with her today, they grew up, one's a teacher, the other one is in college, and if you were to ask them, would they have changed anything in there lives, they would say No, there sister was a gift from God, and they learned so much from her!!! I would also like to say Thank You for the many programs out there like Project ABC, and Camp Camp and many more who help with the childern with disabilities, and their siblings, there is people and childern who don't know better and can be very hurtful, but hold your heads high and remember God has a great gift for you, and your family....

Given the huge sums of money Autism Speaks raises from local communities as compared to the miniscule sums it gives back, it is not an exaggeration to say that Autism Speaks is a tremendous drain on the ability of communities to fund autism service-provision and education initiatives Furthermore, while the bulk of Autism Speaks’ budget (65%) goes toward genetic and biomedical research, only a small minority of Autism Speaks’ research budget goes towards research oriented around improving services, supports, treatments and educational methodologies, with most funding going towards basic research oriented around causation and genetic research, including the prospect of prenatal testing.
