[Rambling Librarian :: Incidental Thoughts of a Singapore Liblogarian] Ethics is about one's values, translated into conduct. In the online world, what matters the most is one's reputation.

[Orrin Woodward Leadership Team] Orrin Woodward Leadership Team :: Team Leadership in St. Louis: Watching Jim and Delores Martin get recognized as new Policy Council. But the real moment was when they introduced their family to us. The things that Delores said to her children made my hair stand up on the back of my neck. She has such passion and love that just oozes out with her words. Watching their children speak about their parents, is every parents dream. Congratulation to Jim and Delores. The other magic moment for me was when I met Laurie Woodward. It took a lot of courage to go up to her and introduce myself (the dream was bigger than the fear). She gave me a hug like she has known me for years. The other thing that I could tell her was that she inspires me, which in turn is making a difference in my life. On 2 other occasions, I had the chance to make eye contact with her and she just smiled and I just told myself that she remembered me. She truely is a Leading Lady and I am looking forward to the day when I can sit and have a conversation with her. Thanks for all you do Laurie for the woman on the Team, we really do appreciate it.
[TrekMovie.com] Frakes Talks TNG, Beard and Future of Riker + Librarian Wrap Pics ...: ok…sometime between the 5th and 6th seasons of TNG when all their contracts were up, rumors were flying ’round ’bout Patrick Stewart not returning. I saw Frakes in Nashville and instead of a question I told him….without in anyway being negative toward Mr Stewart…that whatever the outcome I (and others in fandom I had spoken with over the months when those rumors were out) wouldn’t mind the Enterprise being commanded by Riker.
[Pavan's Press] THE PIRATES OF VRINDABAN « Pavan's Press: For those who worship the feminine side of God as separate from the masculine principle of the Supreme, the results will be eternal samsara, rotation in the painful wheel of birth and death and rebirth once again. Greed or lobha alone is the motivating force for those who would dare to worship Lakshmi apart from Vishnu.
[Feminist Mormon Housewives] Feminist Mormon Housewives » Book Club - Innocent or Evil?: In my neighborhood I attend a monthly book club, and while most of the book clubees are also members of the church, one of the few rules for the book club is no church books (and absolutely no Mormon romance/fiction schlock). That way everyone (even the nonmembers) feel comfortable and no one feels forced to like a book, just because it came from DB, or is about a particular subject.
[Baltimore Beatdown] Put Art Modell in the Hall of Fame - Baltimore Beatdown: I really think that If one is to make a judgment on Modell, one has to completely be separated from both cities and fan bases and look how vital a role Modell played in the early days of the NFL, from his work getting Monday Night Football started, the NFL/AFL merger, TV revenue sharing…I think he deserves to get in…but I can’t expect Browns fans to like or support it. The NFL would not be in the position it is today, with the level of parity that keeps interest strong year in and year out without him.
[Sphinn: Comments] The greatest example of linkbait............ever?!: Ive sphunn this because Ive found the effects of this story to be very amusing, from the point of view of seeing how far its spread throughout the media and the obvious fact that it highlights just how poorly researched even the biggest news organizations in the world can be. In terms of pure linkbait, gaining inbound links from a massive number of authoritative sites, its clearly been a raging success.But...I also find myself agreeing with Jills concerns about the ethics of using an outright lie as a way of trying to promote a site, especially one like money.co.uk, where consumers will want to be able to trust the advice and information that they find there.Im not really sure that the "I never said it was true" defense holds up. And as for citing WMD as an example of ficticious news, if this story ends up being half as damaging to money.co.uks credibility as WMD was to the governments then therell be a hell of a lot of rep management fallout to deal with.Dammit, this fence really isnt a comfortable place to sit. ;-)
[Roger's Rules] Roger's Rules » The Palin Portfolio, Phase Two: Damage Control: or ...: What is even more revealing about how little the left is swayed by facts is that the librarian in question was not fired by Palin, but remained in her job for three more years until she retired. But the same story will no doubt be told around the liberal campfires decades from now.
[Whatanews4u.Sports] BBC - Justin Webb's America: How McCain wins: I think a part of what we're suffering from here in the United States is the confusion of news with entertainment. People who are tuning into the likes of O'Reilly, Coulter, Franken and even Jon Stewart for their news are likely to get instead a quick injection of emotionally charged opinion-devoid of facts.
[Cerulean Sanctum] The Two Christianities | Cerulean Sanctum: Pietism) include individualism (it’s all about me’n'Jesus and “my spiritual experience”) and, frankly, spiritual pride (”I thank thee, O Lord, that I am not like those EM Christians over there, who need the crutch of externalities rather than experiencing the direct work of the Spirit”).
Advice Goddess Blog: But I also have to say this, what the hell kind of person can watch slasher flicks any enjoy them? If you're watching a movie and some young beautiful woman is getting out of the shower and suddenly there is guts and blood splattering all over the mirror, and they do it over and over and over again, and you think thats a great movie, I think you have issues.
[Crimerant] Crimerant » Blog Archive » Finding Amy's Killer: A Talk with the ...: “Not in the mainstream, not a run-of-the-mill citizen.” “He wont fit in with his peers very well, especially women,” adds Lord, “and the people who know him will describe him as ”odd or ”difficult. Its likely that he was living alone, with a single roommate, or maybe still at his parents house.” It is most unlikely he was in a successful marriage, with a normal home and family life. One of the most intriguing aspects of the report is that the killer was most likely to have undergone some sort of dramatic change in his behavior, personality or appearance in the weeks preceding the crime. He developed a sudden compulsive or obsessive disorder, experienced a personal catastrophe or an emotional setback.

However, ahead and in opposition, the matter is less pressing.
[The Comics Curmudgeon] The Comics Curmudgeon » Blog Archive » KILL LEROY KILL: Also, today Bruce Tinsley brings us the arresting image of a floating duck head over three panels' worth of demented rambling. This looks more like something you'd find taped to the wall in a subway station than on the comics pages.
[Guy Fawkes' blog] The Lobby's Shameful Complicity in McPoison's Reign of Terror ...: If any of the Billy Fizz stuff above is largely true, (only fair to point out the obvious caveat) it means that the political class and our fearless commentariat allowed the leaders of two of the main parties to face the British electorate at a recent General Election without revealing significantly damaging and relevant aspects of their private lives. In the case of Kennedy’s alcoholism, the problem would have strongly impacted on his ability to perform any meaningful role, however unlikely such a prospect might have been.
[POLITICO Top Stories] Jonathan Martin's Blog: In reintroduction, Palin to do more ...: Anyone who cares about her "story," and ONLY about her "story," is already set to vote for their ticket. Her decline in voters' eyes has to do with her clear ineptitude and lack of the most basic knowledge of domestic and foreign issues that VP candidates need to demonstrate.
[ScienceBlogs Channel : Politics] Dembski's Rigorous Coursework : Dispatches from the Culture Wars: What is far more likely to happen if you follow my suggestion is that you will read until you realize that everything Dembski says is bullshit, tire of the process and start thinking about how you might be able to talk that cute young lady (or handsome young lad) librarian into giving you an after hour tour of the "Stacks"--OR--you'll ignore my wonderful, free advice and sink ever deeper into your self excavated oubliette of teh Stoopid (credulous bible boob division).
