While the Mall or the derivative of the Mall, Wal-Mart, seem to be a shallow replacement for public spaces the traditional city provided, at least there is still the possibility a burnt-out junkie might take a wiff of your pant-leg in an institution that isn't driven by such a rigid ideology.
