[Blogging Innovation] You see, the legions of twenty and thirty-something consultants employed by Accenture, McKinsey, Bain, Booz Allen Hamilton etc., haven't lived long enough to even form their own thoughts much less become thought leaders. One of the problems I have with large consultancies is that they often label themselves as thought leaders (strike one).

I, A Bee: If you listen closely, you’ll discern that this question is tearing apart the entire marketing-media ecosystem, with combatants staking out positions on either side of an increasingly great divide. On one side, people are speaking the language of efficiency: of online networks, demand-side exchanges, real-time bidding, inventory and impressions, buying agencies and procurement offices, of driving the marginal cost of production and distribution of billions of commodity products called banners, spots, and pages as close to zero as they can.

[Firedoglake] Firedoglake » The Republican Party is Ruled by a Pilonidal Cyst on ...: In 1984, Limbaugh returned to radio as a talk show host at KFBK in Sacramento, California, where he replaced Morton Downey, Jr.[4] The repeal of the Fairness Doctrine ” which had required that stations provide free air time for responses to any controversial opinions that were broadcast ” by the FCC in 1987 meant stations could broadcast editorial commentary without having to present opposing views. Daniel Henninger wrote, in a Wall Street Journal editorial, “Ronald Reagan tore down this wall (the Fairness Doctrine) in 1987”¦and Rush Limbaugh was the first man to proclaim himself liberated from the East Germany of liberal media domination.” [1
[Ezra Klein] ROMNEY VS. THE PRESS - EzraKlein Archive | The American Prospect: So, I'm reading a sentence from Hugh Hewitt (biased conservative a given) book on Romney that says " Romeny's team found a $600 million current year shortfall with only 6 months left in fiscal year 2002-2003, and a projected deficit of $3 billion for FY 2003-2004. Romney balanced both the current and following year budgets without raising taxes." That impresses me especially since he was working with a Dem legislature which has "tax and spend" usually associated with it.
[The Long Beach District Weekly] BELMONT SHORE BAR SCENE FINALLY DRAWS A CROWD OF COPS » The Long ...: The very people who you discount in your windy apologist The District Weekly posts have been active in voicing their concerns about LB government transparency, accountability, buddy loans, misspending, corrupt land swaps, destruction of wetlands, campaign reform, Brown Act violations, lobbyist reform, and public records issues. Our numbers are growing and we are organizing and spreading information about the illegal and unfortunate way our government operates.
[BBC Blog Network] BBC - Blether with Brian: Gloomy news: I like the thought of rationalising local government by reducing the number of councils. It means the management layers will be squeezed out of the public sector and an influx of highly trained and competent managers will greatly enhance the Scottish private sector.
[Management Consulted] How to write a management consulting resume from scratch - plus 10 ...: I'm looking for office preference, interest in my firm, work experience (for MBAs), stats, and something extra like cool leadership posts. Anyone with a multi-page resume is dismissed as too windy and not understanding what the word “resume” means.

[BBC Blog Network] BBC - Blether with Brian: The battle over class sizes: The latest is in today's Sunday Wail where a piece about a Morrisons store's dificulties remarks that these are due to legislations which "are in line with Justice Secretary Kenny McAskill's crudsade against Scotland's booze problems". Photo of Kenny MacAskill accompanies the piece.
[politicalbetting.com] politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Is this why you should bet ...: Tony Blair’s candidacy is unacceptable to many EU leaders - both because of his record, particularly over the Iraq War, and because of Britain’s odd-man status in Europe. Last night at the Queen’s Diplomatic Reception, a senior ambassador remarked to me that if Blair had really wanted the EU job, he should have started lobbying for it a few years ago - or at least shown a post-No 10 interest in European affairs.
[politicalbetting.com] politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Am I right to put more money ...: 207 On paper I think Farage would have had a much better chance in a more 60/40 Tory marginal with an incumbent trougher but on the other hand the speaker angle may give him more publicity (which may help or hinder). Despite that i’d still say it’s more like 5:1 myself but on the other hand both Farage and Bercow seem a bit highly strung and i could see either of them doing something dramatically embarassing between now and election day which in a way could make it 50/50.
[The UltraWellness Blog by Mark Hyman, MD] How To Fix Obama's Health Plan Before It's Too Late: back in healthcare. However, I think that point number 7 lacks emphasis on direct to consumer advertising. I know you mentioned it, but monitary limits are not enough. We are the only country in the world that allows direct to consumer advertising for prescription medications.
[BBC Blog Network] BBC - Blether with Brian: Striking a balance: Glenrothes and Glasgow North East have been long drawn out, I think the last day for nominations is tomorrow, and so some of the work they thought they had / think they have done will be 5 months out of date. IMO in Glenrothes that would have been far too "old" for a campaign where the Council cuts was the ostensible story and the gathering financial crisis was the backdrop.

Particulasly nauseating was a visit to Glasgow by Lord Adonis (who elected him?) who criticised the SNP’s decision to save money by dropping the rail link, but of course did not for a minute suggest where the money SHOULD be cut if the rail link went ahead.
